Exams

Exams are the most commonly used method of evaluating students in civil procedure courses.

All the exams available on the CPLTN can be accessed here.

Reviewing past exams created by Professors across the country is an excellent way to help with creating hypothetical fact patterns, coming up with good topics for essay questions, getting an idea of how long to make the exam, and more.

There are many ways to structure an exam. The types of questions asked in the exams on the CLPTN include multiple choice, short answer, essay questions, and case comments. Most exams include a hypothetical fact scenario on which the questions are based. The following three “featured exams” have been provided to showcase the different exam structures used by Professors across the country.

Featured Exams:

  1. Prof. Barbara Billingsley’s (University of Alberta) 2015 exam is comprised of 40 multiple choice questions based on a hypothetical fact scenario. (To view Prof. Billingsley’s exam click here)
  2. Prof. Noel Semple’s 2016 exam is comprised of 5 short answer questions based on on a hypothetical fact scenario. (To view Prof. Semple’s exam and marking guide, click here)
